Art Workshop

Tuesday 6 November 2007

We are well known for our high quality tsa-tsas molds, which are ordered by students of Lama Zopa Rinpoche around the world. These are provided so that practitioners can create merit and fulfill commitments given to them by their teachers.

We do not supply them for commercial use, i.e. making statues to sell; but we provide them for a price that covers materials and postage only. Nalanda monks also fill statues with blessed substances and mantras for all practicioners.

We are happy to assist guests doing their preliminary practice of making tsa-tsas. Over the years we have gained a great deal of experience in making tsa-tsas, and so are able to give advice ranging from first timer instructions, to the best material to use for the finest detail.

New volunteers are always welcome in the workshop, but the amount of work varies. Please check with the Director.

Statue makers at Nalanda

You can find regularly two statue makers working at Nalanda:

Jonathan, an Australian who made the big Shakyamuni statue for the new Gompa, and Bertrand, who has made a beautiful Tara statue.
